They don't though, unless you let them. Bad refereeing is merely one 
more thing you overcome if you're good enough, and we weren't that 
night, probably mostly because of not respecting NO enough despite 
what we said, thinking we can turn it on and off when we have to, and 
running out of gas when we tried at the end of a tough road trip. Can 
you use it for an excuse? Sure, if looking for excuses is what you're 
into. I tired of that big time back around early Pitino and one of 
the things I've liked about Doc from the start is that even when we 
were losing he neither sought nor accepted excuses.

Agreed, but luck usually favors the ones who hustle more and there 
was a key stretch were they were outhustling us.
