Loaded for the stretch run

I've been waiting to send this until the Cassell
signing was officially done, having been a Boston
sports fan long enough to be wary of jinxing anything.
But ... if you had told me at the beginning of the
season that the Celtics would be able to surround the
Big Three with Sam Cassell, James Posey and PJ Brown,
I would have told you they were going to win a
championship. We now have playoff-tested, two-way vets
at every position. This week's signings have let
Boston keep pace with the trade-deadline improvements
made by the other top teams.

Credit is really due to Ainge, who through patience,
persistence and a bit of gambling has added
high-caliber guys to fill our biggest needs without
having to give up anything in return.

I'll be very curious to see how long Doc continues to
bench Brown in favor of the much shorter, greener
Powe. The guy needs some PT to develop a rhythm and
chemistry for the playoffs.
