House wasn't that bad as a PG sub earlier in the season when he
clearly realized his own limitations and both pushed the ball up
court ASAP and got it out of his own hands ASAP. He didn't actively
really create, beyond encouraging more fast break baskets by pushing
the ball, but he didn't interfere with the offense or make a lot of
mistakes either, and that's more than you can say for a lot of backup
PG. He also played better than his reputation D, although obviously
he's never going to make all defensive team. He just got away from
all that around the same time the whole team started breaking down
and going more individual and hasn't fully recovered. While as Eric
noted, it's more than a few 3s, and just as importantly in a backup,
it's 3s with a Microwave-like ability to come in cold off the bench
and be as likely to put them home as he is after oodles of PT.
Maybe this is another case of something I seem to see a lot where
people brush off a player more because he's not the player they want
him to be than based on what he actually is and isn't?
