I realize it's been slow the last couple of weeks.  Damn Christmas and New Year's mucking up the works again.

Well, I'll tell you what: I check this board multiple
times every single day, and I'm always disappointed
when there's nothing new ... especially after another
win like the one we seem to be closing in on (although
there are still two minutes left, don't jinx it, don't
jinx it...). I enjoy (many of) the personalities on
this list and have never gotten the appeal of online
flame wars. I'm glad to share the joy with people like
Egg and WayRay and Kim Malo and Dan Forant and Noah
Evans and Cecil and Douglas and Goody and both Marks,
who've all been posting here as long as I can
remember, which dates back to the dark "dream
backcourt" draft of 1997. And I miss people like Paul
M. and Joe Hironaka and many others who, for some
reason or another, have dropped by the wayside - maybe
because, unlike me, they actually have found lives. 

(True confession: I sometimes have to restrain myself
from sending posts because I don't want to overwhelm
the board with my own pointless musings.)

What I really come to this list for, absent the need
for silly trade speculation or draft watching
(remember when we used to live and die by draft-day
scouting reports?), is feedback on the game behind the
box score, since I get to see very few C's games out
here on the West Coast. Snoopy and, way back when, Bob
used to post game recaps, player grades, etc., which
were not only useful and informative but would
invariably set off responses from people saying things
like, "Actually I don't think Pierce played very well
in this game at all because..."

And what I really, REALLY come to this list for is to
commune with folks who, like me, have an inordinate
obsession with a pro basketball team in Massachusetts.
I hope you're all enjoying a happy new year and
savoring this truly wild ride this team is on. (20
seconds left, C's up by 8. I think I can exhale for
