I believe that Cassell himself or another equal is needed to really take a
run at a dream Championship this season. Rondo's doing fine as a starter, we
an off the bench point that knows the game and will accept the challenge and
position off bench player. It will lengthen Cassell's career and enable
Rondo to grow faster rather than carry the burden alone.
In fact I would go as far to say providing Garnett comes back, and we get
Cassell, if we don't win the East, it would be a disappointing season.
I agree, but have been having this strange feeling that NEXT year is the
real goal here. (Caveat - contract statuses don't come into this for me because
that's over my head.) What happens next year? PGA remain at peak; Rondo
has a solid year under his belt; Davis learns what NBA conditioning is like;
Ainge gets to add a couple of missing pieces, like Cassell.
But making it to, or through, the East is a very realistic goal for this
season. As some wise man (or wise guy) once said, "You don't know how to win a
title until you lose one."
