Thanks for this. I'm not sure if you saw this because you saw it, or if
it's what I had heard and you had heard, so you looked for it.
Whichever, it is consistent with a few of the gloomy thoughts we have
all had: Tony's brain, Baby's conditioning, Rondo's speed (not gloomy).

It baffles me how a basketball player could be out of shape 45 games
into an NBA season. I guess that being in NBA shape is so far beyond
what we mortals can imagine that ... we can't imagine it!

things from Celtics Practice sunday:

1. Ray Allen and Scalabrini were already shooting at either end of the
gym when we got there.

2. Paul Pierce and Posey were the last guys to show-up to practice,
although Posey may have been going for treatment.

3. Practice was well-run with different tasks delegated among the
assistants. Tom Thibodeau and Armond Hill were very impressive in
their execution and Clifford Ray was more than just a big man
coach-helping out with everything in practice. Kevin Eastman seemed to
be the designated note-taker. Doc had a nice overall control of
everything.

4. Tony Allen was dangerous, even dragging around that knee-brace. He
hit jumpshots from everywhere drifting to the side from the weight of
the brace. He did, however, seem to be lost on most of the practice
drills - asking other players where he was supposed to be, walking away
dribbling the ball during a drill in which they still needed the ball
to continue the drill... Physically impressive considering the injury
- Mentally alarmingly aloof. Ray Allen could be overheard telling Tony
to "cut the sh*t!" after Tony going up for a meaningless dunk between
drills. Tony was the only player called-up to Danny's office after
practice.

5. Big Baby is out of shape, period. He has good skills when he can
catch his breath though.

6. House and Posey were working nicely on getting things right. Powe
seemed a little overwhelmed at times. Rondo looked to have confidence
and a good grasp on what was being run. Rondo is faster than anyone
else on the team-with the ball.

The practice was really interesting with KG making a cameo. The last
practice I saw was at Hellenic, Danny was just a kid and so was I, but
this was pretty good too.
