Lakers trade

Respectfully, I'm not sure why anybody's seeing this
as "will Gasol be better than Odom?" With Odom PLUS
Gasol, and with Bynum coming back shortly, and with
the clutch D-Fisher, and with that Bryant jerk, the
Lackeys now have as much firepower as anybody. The
defensive concerns are legitimate (see: Dallas
Mavericks 2007), but if I'm the Lakers I'm not worried
about down-the-road salary cap/luxury tax concerns:
much like the current Celtics, the Lakers now have a
legitimate window to win another title, and really,
isn't that what it's all about?

That's exactly why, if I were a Bulls fan, I'd be
ready to riot about now. Last season, Chicago couldn't
swing a deal for Gasol because they didn't want to
part with Deng and another of their young pieces. If,
as ESPN reported, the only price this time around
would have been Nocioni, I'd do that deal 100 times
out of 100. Deng, Gordon, Heimlich, Gasol and Ben
Wallace? Pretty nice core. They could have been a
contendah. Hey Jerry Reinsdorf, luxury tax this!

(As for how Gasol fits into the triangle, I remember
Phil did pretty well with another big ol' post player
who didn't shoot jumpers, and if memory serves
Shaquille O'Neal won several rings with Bryant.)
