like all trades, we won't know how this really works until much later. on the plus side, the lakers now have another very long player, this one with some offensive skills. on the minus side, i don't think anyone will confuse gasol's passion with that of, say, garnett's. 


it's lots of money to commit to, and is he really much better than odom? i think they'll struggle to be complimentary parts. time will tell. but damn, that's going to be one long front line with bynum, gasol and odom. will be interesting to see how they play together.  


in any case, it sure didn't take the lakers long to retool. if nothing else, they've totally regained kobe's trust, which i wouldn't have taken a bet on last summer.
