I agree on the need to add another PF/C type. Spears is reporting that
Batista turned down the C's offer (my guess is that it was only a training
camp contract, i.e. not fully guaranteed). My big board looks like:
PJ Brown (very doubtful)
Brian Skinner - still out there and probably has a little more in the tank
than PJ
Marc Jackson
(the other) mark
BTW -- isn't it funny that the most enduring positive of the Pitino era is
the phrase "X, Y, Z arent' walking through that door" (or variations
thereof). The PTI guys use it, it shows up here and on CelticsBlog all
the time. It just strikes me as amusing.

Yeah, Batista walking through that door ain't going to add alot to this
team. But I would still like to add a third PF-C. PJ Brown, Marc
Jackson, Dale Davis and even Dikembe Mutombo would be better in the role
than Batista. None of those guys is signed yet, and one can only assume
it's because they think they can get more than the veteran minimum . With
training camp coming up, I expect that we'll see a flurry of signings
soon and hopefully we'll fill that hole with one of those four.

he was great in the recently concluded fiba america tournament. can score a
lot and rebounds a lot too. but a scrub player when he played with the
hawks. couldn't even crack the Zaza Pachulia, Shelden Williams and Lorenzen
Wright center rotation of Atlanta last year. I think he's an unrestricted
free agent if i'm not mistaken. so no need for a sign and trade i guess. I
read somewhere before that his agent just put out the word that the celts
'might' be interested coz of a need for a big man (during the mutombo
hunt)...but since pollard was signed he didn't push batista anymore...and
now there's this rumor again.
my guess is it's just the agent putting his clients name out there to make a
buzz...
