Good point on Oden. WIll he be this generation's Joe Barry Carroll or Sam Bowie??

As far as Seattle goes, we'll have to wait and see. Yes, they did get very young and that will work if they bring in good veterans to help the kiddies along. I don't put Wally "Me" Z in that category.

Time will tell how much of a prize Durant will be and for whom. There is a huge gap in talent between the pros and the college ranks- with all those drafted high schoolers and early outers more than ever before. I think Jeff Green will be a much better player than many people think he will be. But the bottom line is that Seattle (or Oklahama City maybe) will lose a lot of games and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.

Right now, Seattle reminds me of the Toronto Raptors when they had Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Doug Christie, and veteran Dee Brown. Lots of potential that, were I a Sonics fan, I would hope would be realized unlike what happened in Toronto.

This poor guy - he is soooo talented. But the wrist, the tonsillectomy,
and now the knee. It doesn't bode well.

It makes Seattle's Durant look more and more like the prize of the
draft. And his team's GM, Emerson College's own Sam Presti, is
looking real good with the courage to make the painful moves to
immediately rebuild his team... no wishy-washy about it. And
that includes his gutsy trade of high-salaried stars Ray Allen
to the Celts and his sign-and-trade of Rashard Lewis (rather than
re-signing him to a big contract) to lucky Orlando for peanuts ...
a second-round pick and a $9 mill trade exception.

Did we trade for the wrong Seattle star? Would we have been
better off giving up that little (a second-round pick and a
$9 mill trade exception or a reasonable facsimile) ) for Lewis
rather than giving up Delonte, Wally, and #5 Jeff Green
(or Jianlian who we would have taken had we kept the pick)
for one-dimensional scorer, 32 year old Ray Allen?

Oden to have arthroscopic knee surgery
By Associated Press (Tuesday, Sept. 11)

PORTLAND, Ore. - Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in the NBA
draft,
will undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery this week because of pain in
his
right knee.

An MRI taken last week showed Oden may have some cartilage problems, general
manager Kevin Pritchard said Monday.

A timetable for Oden’s return will be set following the surgery, which will
take
place Thursday in Vancouver, Wash. The Trail Blazers open training camp in
three
weeks, and the regular season starts Oct. 30.

This is Oden’s second health problem since the Trail Blazers drafted him in
June.
He had a tonsillectomy in July after struggling in two Las Vegas summer
league games.

Oden recovered from that operation and was working out in the Portland area
when he felt pain in his knee. The MRI was taken Thursday and Oden refrained
from working out over the weekend.

Cheri Hanson, a team spokeswoman, said Oden and Trail Blazers coach
Nate McMillan wouldn’t be available to answer questions. Efforts to reach
Oden’s agent, Mike Conley Sr., by phone weren’t successful.

Oden, despite being hampered by a wrist injury, averaged 15.7 points and
9.6 rebounds for Ohio State last season, leading the Buckeyes to the national

championship game as a freshman. He had 25 points and 12 rebounds in
the loss to Florida.
