So what are you inferring here Egg? Especially in regards to Garnett.
I can see nothing in Garnett's game that is even approaching a
hindrance, not even his trademark intensity.
Is your secondary point also that Allen should be the #1 option?
Basically, I am a bit perplexed by your line of reasoning below. What
started off as a comment on Doc's deference to the GPA ends up with a
commentary on Pierce and finally Garnett. IMHO Garnett SHOULD be the #1
option, Pierce #2 and Allen #3 - not because of who they are personality
wise, but because of their skill set. Ball to the post, ball to the
slasher, and the kickout/wide open jumper to Allen. Doesn't mean Allen
doesn't get some initiation aspects or curl/screen/pick and pop plays
called for him, but the majority of the time you run your offense in an
attack philosophy to the post trying to get close-in shots, and fouls,
before settling for the longer range jumpshot. And so far that's exactly
what I've seen when all three are on the floor.
Sure, Pierce has reverted somewhat to the 1 on 5, but much less so then
previous years and that is surrounded by periods of good ball movement
and actually having Pierce part of the fast break - WITHOUT the ball in
his hands - something we've never seen before.
I simply don't see the same thing about Garnett you do - if I read your
comment correctly.
---------------------------------
And each of the three seems to be having a field day just doing what
comes naturally.
Garnett and Pierce are so aggressive that the more refined Allen appears
to be the odd man out... especially feeling that the frenetic Garnett is
one crude and crazy guy, somewhere between a hindrance and a help.
