Another person with some basketball IQ, John
Hollinger, just came out with his Player Efficiency
Ratings and Posey came in with a sterling 10.53 PER
(just below Kendrick Perkins who's at 10.96) while
Tony Allen came in at 15.15, good for 4th best on the
team, after KG, Paul and Ray, respectively.
Hollinger's ranking system is not perfect, but Posey
is nowhere near Tony in terms of sheer ability and
effectiveness. You can talk about BB IQ all day long,
but unless it comes with numbers then usually it's
overrated. Posey is a great glue guy for the bench
and an occasional stopper, but Tony is better at most
aspects of the game. And his BB IQ isn't that bad
either. If he had Posey's game experience, he'd
probably have a greater BB IQ too.
Just for those of you that are interested, after KG,
Paul, Ray, and Tony, the highest PERs on the C's
belong to Powe, House, and then Rondo and Perk.
Scalabrine (another high BB IQ player) comes in dead
last.
