first game

I think Doc is already kinda trying to do what you
suggest Mark, though he's doing it without benching
Ray Allen. We can't read everything into the first
game, but Ray Allen was the first to go to the bench
(of KG, Paul, and Ray) and came back into the game to
relieve Pierce. I think that's what we'll see all
season, Ray Allen to the bench early, followed by a
sub of Ray Allen for Paul Pierce late in the first
quarter, much like Doc used Ricky Davis (when he was
starting). Down the road, though, I think he will be
a 6th man. Good call on that. But I think Tony Allen
starts for him when that happens. He's more of a 2
guard and when healthy he's better than Posey.

As for Scal in the starting unit, I just don't see it.
Right now, Scal is KG's personal back-up and I can
live with that. He might look better with better
players around him, but what does that really say
about him as a player? I would hope all players look
better with better players around them, and I would
rather develop Perk, Powe and Big Baby and let them
benefit from playing with great players than give that
away to a scrub like Scalabrine. Of the all the crap
play that we've seen from Brian in the last 2 years,
the only thing that possibly can improve is his shot.
Do we want to sacrifice Big Baby's development, or
Powe's or Perk's just to see of few more Scal jumpers
go in? Not at all. Not in the short term and
definitely not in the long term. If all goes well,
Big Baby is in Scal's current spot in about 2 months.
