< Now, don't make me answer myself.> - Gene
OK, Mr. Gene. But remember that the optimist sees the
doughnut while the pessimist sees the hole.
A MUST WIN
Although it was "just" a preseason game, after all the hype
it was a game we had to win. Which is probably why Doc
played our starters for 146 minutes while Toronto's starters
played 101 minutes. In a pre-game arrangement with Toronto
to insert players 11-15 at the end of the game, our 3rd team
(Pruitt, Jones, Wallace, Davis, and Manuel) logged 17 minutes
while Toronto’s 3rd team (Dixon, Moon, Jackson, Baston, and
Humphries) logged 47 minutes.
KEVIN GARNETT
What can be said? This guy is fabulous. If his pistol misses fire,
he knocks you down with the butt end of it. Maybe Doc is right;
with Garnett and Pierce on the floor why bother with offensive
sets? Just give 'em the ball and VOILA!
<House can shoot, and he has a measure of confidence that
should keep him shooting.> - Gene
Ah yes, fancies that might be. L'il Microwave has a lifetime FG%
of .408, he's no PG, and his defense is even worse. There is a
reason the Celts are his eighth team in eight seasons. Oh, and
Stephen Jackson is his best friend. Nuff said.
<Here's what I saw: they're healthy.> - Gene
RAY ALLEN
This pure shooter hasn't shot well since joining the team. If his
shots don't start to drop soon, the "It's his legs" whispers will
grow louder.
TONY ALLEN
It bothers me at this juncture of his recovery that he is even being
allowed to play in these pre-season games. Would he be if the
Celts weren't holding him hostage/gambling with his health by
having him prove by the Oct. 31 deadline that he's physically
capable of receiving an extension? If not re-signed, he'll become
a restricted FA next season. Tony has already missed several
practices due to stiffness and pain.
SCOTT POLLARD
Pollard sprained his ankle about a month ago rendering him
unable to participate in any of our practices. So what do the
Celts do - they fly him to Rome and then send him home prior
to the first game to finally have an overdue MRI.
Laymen's Doctors seem to be more thorough than NBA team
Doctors. But then they don't have a team contract with its
attendant conflict of interest.
"A little rub here and a little ice there and you'll be fine.
Now you and Tony Allen get back out there on the court.
It's all in your minds." - Anonymous
