Look, I like to bash Doc as much as the next guy, but we don't really know
the details of what happened in Rome yesterday and what prompted his
decision.  Perhaps he reserved gym time for a second session that would take
place only if the first practice stunk or ran short.

There are plenty of drill-sargeant types who've flopped as coaches.   Even
if reading that Doc had put the players through a two-hour night session --
after the trip to the Vatican -- capped by a dozen suicides, there's no
guarantee that would be more productive.
