Pretty good problem awareness, but not sure I totally agree. I think
defensively we match up pretty well with such teams - causing turnovers,
getting into passing lanes, etc. I do agree on the bench matchups -
mostly because of Scalabrine and House. House because he simply isn't a
good defender and Scal because he's not what he's been played as
recently (a five).
On offense these teams tend not to scare me because defensively they're
often lacking. Like Stephen Jackson - great offense, terrible defense
(and raging psycho). Baron Davis has never defended well either - while
he might light up Rondo there's no reason Rondo couldn't get to the
basket at will on the other end.
I still maintain the main problem overall is mis-casting (which you also
mention). Big 5s? Play lots of Perk and Pollard instead of Garnett and
Scal at the five. Long threes? Hello James Posey. Big 4s and a long 5?
Give Big Baby some run with Garnett at the 5 in that matchup.
------------------
The up-tempo, athletic teams scare me. They can wear us down, lead us
to too much one-on-one play to right the ship, cause Doc to substitute
weird combinations, put us in foul trouble, leave Perk on the bench too
long, play the three too many minutes, expose our inconsistent bench.
And more. It oughta be a coupla exciting games, though. Enjoy the
holidays. Gene
