Brian Scalabrine -- why?

I still don't understand what Brian Scalabrine brings to this team. He played poorly in past years, and we were told that was because his "skills" weren't as useful with untalented teammates. Now he has very talented teammates, and he still looks out of place.
I know, I know -- we've heard so much about the "little things" he does. Maybe I'm missing them. But I *do* see the big things he does poorly: rebounding, shooting, and passing.
The worst thing is that, if he hits a shot or two, he keeps taking shots. That was a bad idea in the past. This year, with all the high-percentage scorers on this team, it should be a hanging offense.
Kendrick Perkins:
1,006 rebounds in 3,707 minutes (218 games) = 1 rebound every 3.7 minutes
Brian Scalabrine:
844 rebounds in 5,173 minutes (342 games) = 1 rebound every 6.1 minutes
