Yes, The Undefeated Season continues.

However, Bob Cousy put it best--and most straightforwardly--when he
said "they probably didn't deserve it".

Tonight's game saw the Heat playing extremely good defense against
the Celtics, enough so that Boston's passing game was a
joke. Despite getting Shaq in early foul trouble, the C's failed to
put together a run to really blow the game open.

Miami's offense without Shaq is Dwayne Wade recovering from injury
and Ricky Davis hoisting up really bad shots. They'll never put
together an offensive explosion. All you have to do is play equally
solid defense and then play team-oriented offense.

This is a game where the Celtics showed that Rondo, nice a guy as he
might be, is not a starting PG for this team. He came unglued and
was unable to establish the offense.

I was actually scared when Tony Allen came in, thinking that in a
game with this much banging around, his knee brace might end up
twisted into a pretzel, but he actually came up with a few good
defensive moves.

For all their vaunted offensive capacity, Pierce, Garnett and Ray
Allen had not so great nights. When the Celtics DID manage at last
to get a double digit lead, they let it slip away. Had the game
lasted another 10 seconds, Miami might very well have won.

This, I very SINCERELY hope, was a wake-up call to the Good
Guys. The team offense was nonexistent. The team defense was mostly
a case of getting lucky as Miami missed crucial free throws.

We. Need. A. Veteran. Point. Guard.

Rondo makes a nice backup, but that's it. He's not experienced
enough to handle a night like this. I don't know who's really and
realistically available, but we need him, NOW.

Tonight's game provided the NBA with a blueprint on how to beat
Boston. Use a hard, scrambling defense, and if your offense is even
average, you have a good chance to win.

The Celtics didn't win this game so much as they didn't lose
it. They can do better, the HAVE done better, and they NEED to do
better, or next Sunday night, they'll be 8-1, and falling fast.

Next game is on Sunday, on NBA tv vs the Orlando Magic.

And that's the view from the doghouse.
