The idea that Pierce has "growing pains" to overcome is absurd.  His offense AND defense where a big part of that run to the ECF in 2002.  Since then, did he really have a lot of other options with all the young players overcoming THEIR growing pains?  

As far as choosing between a scoring title and a banner, you are correct that no one except Shaq and Jordan has pulled this off in the last 20 years.  But most championship teams have a top 10 scorer and I'm OK with Pierce in that role.  Heck, I think we'll two in the top 10.

I never doubted Paul as an individual offensive player - problem is
that he still have ways to go to become a true TEAM player. Unless
he'll overcome this growing pains, this team will not be able to
compete with the best of, IMO.

Players like KG, TimmyD could put quite a show if playing like that -
but never do. At the end of the day you choose between a scoring title
and the banner.
