Agent 0-16 from three point land? Isn't that an NBA team record?

You were ALL thinkin' it last night - you just didn't want to say it out
loud...

Okay, let me balance the enthusiasm here with some observations both
positive and negative.

1. KG is that damn good. I'm the idiot. I knew he was a great player,
but I didn't know how instinctive he is. (Rondo shows the same
tendencies BTW). ALWAYS in the right spot. Has Rodman's sense of
exactly where the carom is going on every rebound AND fundamentally
boxes out well too (deadly combo). Defensively intimidating in the
paint. WOW are the only three letters that work.
2. Where the Hell did the motion in our offense go? WAY too much one on
one tonight. Since Washington is "terrrrrruble" (Thanks Bill Walton)
defensively it didn't matter, but against the Detroits and Chicagos of
the world we can't play the same stand around offense we played last
night. All preseason we were running, and getting the ball up the floor,
and cutting and picking and moving on offense and now that we're in the
regular season ZIP that disappears. Just weird.
3. D-FENCE! (thump thump) D-FENCE! (Thump Thump) As weird as it was to
see the offense morph it was equally as heartening to see some just
stifling defense (especially in the 1st and third quarters and with no
Posey). The "no one within 20 feet of their man" open jumpers were
almost non-existent last night (there were a couple - so who was on
Caron Butler cough cough); and Rondo's D on Arenas in the first half was
suffocating. That to me was the key to the game in setting the early
tone. Tom Thibadeau - you da man.
4. Bench? Nice. The second key to the game after Rondo's early D (Arenas
turned it on late) was the bench coming in and just keeping up the pace.
Now Washington obviously didn't watch much preseason tape because they
didn't press Eddie House and didn't slow the tempo down on either end,
which all preseason has been the bane of the second unit. It's still not
a strength (Hell, even Scal was shooting decently) this bench, but as
long as it's not a detriment this team will be fine. Just hold any lead
or don't get deeper into deficits - that's all this bench has to do.
5. Doc - this wasn't a stressful coaching night. For all Washington's
talk of running - they didn't. They didn't slow it down either. They
didn't really do much of anything so Doc didn't really have to make any
adjustments either. Substitutions were fine. He kept at least one of
the GPA on the floor all the time except late and while I'm hoping Scal
was just "keeping Posey's minute warm for him" nothing of the usual "Doc
what are you doing" thoughts even crossed my mind.
6. The offense still bugs me. Sorry I know I already said that.

I'm happy man - big huge statement win. The first of many.
