It's an offense/defense question really. Well, that and playing style.

Offensively, West made sense for this year's Celts on the offensive end
of the floor, but would've tilted the windmill an awful lot toward a
pure offensive team. Rondo, with his one on one defensive ability, kept
the pendulum more to the middle - sacrificing that outside, spread the
floor aspect of the offense. If anything over the course of his tenure,
Ainge has demonstrated his eye is to offensively talented players. That
doesn't mean they can't play defense, but overwhelmingly the defensive
skills were not the reason his picks were selected despite his sometime
words to the contrary (like Marcus Banks being a "terrific defender").

I too prefer Rondo. If I use the word "balance" in any more posts I
think y'all will keelhaul me, but that's the key for me. Balance the
roster. Get the ball in the bucket with some guys, keep the ball out of
the bucket with others and if the two aspects sometimes cross (and
Perkins goes for 30 points one night Man YEAH!) even better.

I have no question that I prefer Rondo, even with the shooting
deficiency. Gene
