The Wolves did not exercise an option on swingman Gerald Green

Yeah, so? I already know that. Different situations in other ways
too. While I already admitted that I don't share this obsession with
every player has to be thought of as a potential sign and trade any
more than I share the obsession that we want to sign every unsigned
player (other threads). Concern about sign and trade and restricted /
unrestricted makes sense when you have someone likely to have some
real demand. Clearly they don't think that's an issue.

Again, very one dimensional and inconsistent shooters in need of a
major clue hunt aren't a commodity in major demand. I know he's young
but the trend last season was downward and his whole career is
defined by a) inconsistency b) teammates are there just to pass to me
c) defense is something someone else does. Tony by comparison has an
established role that isn't as common (true defensive stopper) with
legit reason to believe he can do more, because he has, vs it all
being about cross your fingers "upside" based on little more than
athleticism and his being a nice kid.

Should he miraculously really blossom, the Wolves can still pay him
more than anyone, whether to keep him or sign and trade, until they
actually waive him or he signs with someone else. If not, they aren't
stuck with him filling the roster spot and taking up salary. They can
already get via MLE the sort of player he's likely to bring in a sign
and trade.
