Trade

We can't get Durant or Oden. No one is trading them, and definitely not
for anything we have.

I agree with the need to trade Pierce, but set your sights elsewhere in
the lottery. I still think Chicago makes the most sense.

Time to get creative. By the time these kids really mature Pierce will
be 2-3 years older. Try to move him now in a package for Durant, even if
it costs us Green too, then take Brewer at #5.

Not at all Egg.

If I actually thought that Boston could acquire a Garnett without giving
up
Pierce and Jefferson, I'd be all for it because it would immediately
make
Boston a contender to play in the Eastern Conference finals. I just
don't
think it's possible to acquire that kind of talent without giving up
Jefferson. If the Celtics give up Jefferson for Garnett and go into the
season with Pierce and Garnett as the key guys, I'm not sure they get by
Detroit and the other risers in the East and with the clock ticking on
Pierce and Garnett's respective careers and their significant salaries,
adding a Jefferson type post scorer, which they would need to make that
championship run, would be near impossible.

In short, the Celtics are screwed. They don't have the assets to
acquire a
Garnett type talent without hurting themselves. And the fifth pick does
not
help them win a championship in the short term window they have to win
one
in.

Seattle would easily give up Wilcox and Ridnour to get out from under
them.
I thought Fortson had one more year on his deal but he doesn't so yes a
Seattle deal like I suggested is near impossible as you pointed out.
