draft question

it ain't easy even for those who are paid big bucks to
make the call.

kwame brown, pervis ellison, joe smith and michael
olowokandi, all taken numero uno. all very average
players. i rest my case.

that said, i agree we could have done better than
marcus banks and perk that year, or gerald when we got
him, but young potential always seems to dazzle
people. and no matter what you think of perk or gerald
or even banks, they're still in the league, which is
more than you can say for many mid to late-round
picks. in gerald's case, i think he's still 3-4 years
away from showing us whether he's a ray allen clone or
an occasional garbage-time highlight.

btw, anyone want to chime in on the top coaches who
could be available? i'm thinking, in no order:

mario ellie
carlisle
pj carlisimo
sam mitchell

You say " it's not easy to tell who's going to be a
good pro and who's
not"

I agree it's not easy for us who don't get to go to
combines, don't
have
all of the info, etc.. But it is danny's job. That is
why we hired
him.
