while Ainge is not the perfect GM, i'm firmly in the camp that he's done
an above average job.
I've never really understood the trashing of Ainge in general. It's a
funny quip Kestas but really i don't think anything Ainge has done is that
dumb. Even the Telfair/#7 deal can't be fully graded yet b/c we don't know
if we'll get soemthing w/ Ratliff's deal. At worst i think it was a not
unreasonable gamble that failed.
I'd be curious how much you (kestas or anyone else) disagrees with Hobbs'
move-by-move assessment of Ainge posted on Celticsblog msg board:

Spurs GM RC Buford often talks about how you, as a GM, have to think about
how any move you make affect the possibility of any future move (i.e.
taking up capspace, keeping/moving picks, etc). Ainge is OK on this front
and can get better but overall i'd give him a solid B in his moves --
might move to a A- if he can get a new coach.

Just be happy he hasn't traded Paul Pierce to Philly for Joseph (Joe)
Smith and cap fodder.
