All things being equal - I probably would too, but I do concur with Egg in
the regard that Ainge's folly has been to overlook completely his due
diligent "homework" for trades/free agents especially. Wally's knee's.
Telfair's inabaility to play any defense. Ratliff's back. While from pure
basketball talent I do the trade every day of the week and twice on Sunday,
the mere hint of "this guy could be trouble" should be FULLY investigated
before any trade. While we are trading one potential cancer for another
(Haywood & Telfair) - Scalabrine, despite his poor athleticism, does provide
by all accounts both on the floor and off the floor veteran steadiness that
this team so desperately lacks.
Now if we can get that veteran aspect Scals brings (or at the very least a
guy that just shuts up and plays on and off the floor), IN a big man, WITH
better talent - HELL YEAH WE DO IT if we can!!!!!!

Precisely where I was going.
Maybe Eggy has some inside information about Haywood that none of the
sports reporters at the Washington Post have been able to uncover.
If I recall, a long time ago we traded a guy named Rick Robey for a
supposed "cancer". Now, I am in no way trying to equate Brendan Haywood
with Dennis Johnson. My original point was that we ought to be trying to
get some value for Telfair. My opinion is that Haywood brings something as
a player to the team because you are still going to need some back-up bigs.
The deal I suggested would basically substitute paying a lot of money for
Scalabrine for paying a lot of money for Haywood. I'll take Haywood over
Scalabrine any day of the week. - Asterix99
