I'd be happy if he left too. My point is that I think that if we add Durant or Oden to this team, the owner's bargaining position be it with Doc, Carlisle or anyone else is greatly strengthened. The same goes for signing or getting a veteran FA in a sign and trade deal.
If we don't get a top two pick, they might as well keep Doc for another year.

I know he's under contract, but he says he wants an extension and the
papers say they have talked about it. I'm hoping Doc pushes for multiple
years and the owners rightly balk, forcing a parting of the ways this
summer.

I would think that Carlise or anyone else being courted by the Celtics
would wait until May 22nd as well before making a decision about joining
the team.
The C's don't have to give Doc an extension, he is under contract for
another year.

I'm still crossing my fingers on the Carlisle thing. The longer we go
without hearing anything about Doc, the better the chances are that we
see a story saying the sides couldn't agree on an extension. I know it's
unlikely, but give me my little sliver of hope. It's all I have until
May 22.

Don't think much of Paul Silas as a coach, but I've always wanted Don
Nelson. And Carlisle would be a significant upgrade on Doc.
