It's all on the CBW, but here's the latest news
as of the conclusion of tonight's game against the Sixers:

So long, we hardly knew ye...
Three people saw their predictions miss in November and December.

Nov 11, 2006: Mrs. Celtics Beagle (78-4) barely
had time to enjoy being on the list before the
Cleveland Cavaliers handed the C's their 5th loss just 6 games into the season.

Nov 29, 2006: Snoopy the Celtics Beagle (74-8)
once again was more optimistic than the season
would prove. as the Nets handed the C's loss #9.

Dec 04, 2006: drakkie (72-10) fell from
contention, as did the Celtics, to Chicago

M*A*S*H* 2007, or "OUCH"
As insult (from ESPN, Sports Illustrated, among
others) was literally added to injury, the
Celtics were left with only the very end of their
bench to contend against some of the best teams
in the NBA. Yet few people were willing to admit
the guys were playing heroically, well beyond
their years, and often holding their own,
especially after Delonte West was hurt, followed
by Tony Allen, who was done for the year. Theo
Ratliff was likewise gone for the season just as
the month started. This saw some large scale
damage to the predictions hopes of a large chunk
of participants at a time of year that normally has few dropouts from the list.

Jan 15, 2007: Alex (58-24) was the first to leave
in the month of January, as the Atlanta Hawks
administered a loss to the C's on Martin Luther
King day. And the C's losing streak wasn't even that bad as yet...

Jan 20, 2007: jopaullo (56-26) went down in a
game against the Wizards. By this time, Boston's
record was mired at 12-27, their last win more than three weeks previously.

Jan 22, 2007: Mr. Poulin (55-27) saw his
prediction fall in the very next game, against the Spurs.

Jan 24, 2007: IamaCeltic, Mtrue, and punkisdad
(54-28) all lost, as did the Celtics to the Hawks, for the 2nd time in 10 days.

Jan 26, 2007: i00ptirish and wigglestrue (53-29)
were both gone from the list, as Toronto beat Boston.

Jan 28, 2007: Anne "Snoopy" Cankosyan, Ellie
Cutler, and Ryan3Gomes (52-30) saw their hopes
dashed like the Celtics were, once more at the hands of the Wizards.

Jan 30, 2007: Roger S. Belanger, David J. Boutte,
Jim Hill, and UGA Hayes (51-31) had to see the
Pacers continue the losing streak.

Jan 31, 2007: Celticfanman, Celtickid,
Celtics33 at FLA, CF00, Fatty, Frederick Hurley,
Lance Gee, Green_for_life, Mafiaso316, Bill
Messer, and pierceainge (50-32) made the largest
group yet to drop from contention as no less than
the &$%&$%#$#*^*^# Lakers beat the Celtics. AAUGH!

You want Doc to play what?
February saw things get worse with the Celtics
injury situation. By now we knew for Certain
Tony Allen was done for the season--and maybe the
Calendar year. Wally Szczerbiak couldn't seem to
keep his ankles working, and just when Pierce's
foot was getting better, his elbow gave him
trouble. Coach Doc Rivers was already playing in
the practices, and I wondered if he'd have to
come off the bench and play the point himself!
With the losiong streak getting longer and the
All-Star Break looming, would the Celtics be able to turn it around somehow?

Feb 02, 2007: 35lewis35, danielthemaniel,
Datruth345, eddietours, FlCeltsFan, R Howe,
Thomas Murphy, Shocker, L Supreme, and TELFAIR#30
(49-33) all saw the Clippers beat Boston in a close one.

Feb 06, 2007: Bob, Derrenmatts, dforant1, JB,
Manchvegas Bob, Mulcogi, Eddie Santana, and Eric
Weiss (48-34) agonized as the Pistons also beat Boston in a close game.

Feb 07, 2007: asterix9_9, Celtics17, Darth
Celtic, Greg Dickerson, Jughead, ParticleMan, and
surferdad (47-35) were forced to watch the Good
Guys endure a thrashing by the Heat.

Feb 09, 2007: AleX2NicE, CalderCup, Canman1971,
DorfonCeltics, JiriMania, jtcraider2002, Gene
Kirkpatrick, Steve Ouellette, Red's Army, Ricky
to Blount, Roadrunner, sexyscottish, thebirdman,
venkat, and ZekeMowattFan (46-36) watched the Nets pound the Celtics.

Feb 11, 2007: AlexG, BadWolf, BCHISTORIAN,
bdodgers, bostonfan23, Celticpal, Chris, Kyle
Cleric, Cyclical, darrendaye, douglas342, Gary
Dzen, Roy Enrile, Esco33, Katli, Kirk, Ken
Mattina, Jon Mendoza, MikeDfromNP, Quinielabox,
Pasquale, PDeMaio, Pocket MD, Aussie Russman, and
wiseguys (45-37) watched the wrenching loss
handed us by Minnesota as Ricky Davis hit the winning shot.

ALL-STAR BREAK: as of this point of the season
Boston is 13-38, as 94 of the original 237
prognosticators have fallen by the wayside. If
the Celtics lose five more games, another 97
people--more then two-thirds of the entire
list--will fall from contention. The C's need to
win eight more games to drop the prognosticator
with the least amount of wins predicted (Celtics_History_Lesson, 20-62).

Feb 20, 2007: The list takes another big hit
following the Celtics' loss to the Sacramento
Kings. 32fan, Alex, Celtics4Life, Dickretro,
Pablo Alvarez Findel, Goody, Darrell Hatfield,
Neal Hoffman, J Pro BU, Jaims, Labvision, Kim
Malo, Milloy, NCC, ossric, Parasite, Richard
Quan, spf211, Larry Taylor, tenatiousT, The Duke,
and Westthebest (44-38) all dropped from contention.

Feb 21, 2007: Back to back losses mean a double
whammy for the prognosticators, as we lose
aliendave, brianupnorth, Jared Cantin,
CeltsSteve, cfan79, djneedsarc, DPontrel2, Elrod
Enchilada, Michael Gooen, Troy Hash, Patrick
Gilroy, Steve Knight, John Lyell, Jesse Nunes,
Jorge Pereira, Petula, RickRobey'sArms, Ing Edgar
Rodriguez, BobRyan, Soxfan29, Richard Staines,
sunshinekids99, theman, Bill Walton, Jeff White,
and Cecil Wright (43-39) after the Celtics lose to the Phoenix Suns.

Feb 23, 2007: If you gotta go, it just hurts
more against the ^$#%&^$@7 Lakers, as anh2173,
Alden Brosseau, CelticsBlog,
dark_lord_of_the_celts, Anders Destium, dethan,
Eeyore, HMURDOCH, Hoops, JHVOS, joecurley,
johnnythebone, Michael J, King, LittleRich,
Mev17, Ryan Nelson, NESportsfanscott, Marc
Pierce, Rootbeer Richie, Jim Shane, Spin Move,
SuperDeluxe, and GARY SWEATT (42-40) can all tell you.

Feb 24, 2007: Another loss, this time to the Utah
Jazz, took another big chunk of the list from
contention. This last group to predict a
winning season for the Good Guys were Eric
Albert, Mark Berry, Bird33, Dr. Jay, Eja117,
Enuggs, freshnthehouse, GreenPiece, Ken Kokubo,
Shawn Niles, Professor Perkins, rltjr33,
RoyalRumble, Dan Shaughnessy, Taget, and tlee34
(41-41) dropping from contention.

The Health Insurance Company called and they want
to have a chat with the team...
March was a bit brighter, as by this time, Paul
Pierce was back and the Celtics were finally
winning games once more. But the season was
taking it's toll on the rest of the team, as by
the end of the month, Brian Scalabrine and Wally
Szczerbiak would both be done for the year, and
Pierce was a game to game decision.

Mar 07, 2007: This group benefitted from the
winning streak the C's went on, but this loss to
the Houston Rockets, against whom the win streak
began, eliminated CelticPride348, ColdMoneyGreen,
Falstaff, Roy Hobbs, Andy Leckart, Aimée Noonan,
Mark Piotrowski, Eric Pincus, SPeeDy, Too Smooth,
and yak,yak,yak (40-42) from the ever-tightening race.

Mar 11, 2007: The Chicago Bulls stampeeded
Honorary Citizen1, Jebus, mqtcelticsfan,
proudaudiomusic, Ryan Russillo, and Zerostatic (39-43) off the list.

Mar 13, 2007: The running of the Bulls took both
ends of the home and home set, sending DCMetz,
ExHollistonJeff, NASCL, and nhceltics (38-44) out
of the running for the predictions list this year.

Mar 16, 2007: The Dallas Mavericks won the game,
but only after a tough fight from the Good
Guys. Sadly, the loss on the court means the
loss of Steve Chomicz, Dingodile, JS33, Kestas,
RoLLoApoLLo, Sabino, Tenbomber, and Tom Vanderbilt (37-45) from the list.

Mar 19, 2007: the New Orleans/Oklahoma City
Hornets buzzbombed the Celtics, and sent
Brikowski, Sean Giovanello, Jackie MacMullan,
George J. Sliney, and pmaurice (36-46) back to
wait for next year's predictions list.

Mar 21, 2007: The Charlotte Bobcats made
mousemeat out of the Celtics in the final
quarter, and themousetrap closed for Blackbigg,
Brenda Blake, CelticsFanNYC, celts727,
HomeRunBaker, Abdullah Karadag, Joebiscuit, and Rocko (35-47).

Mar 23, 2007: The Dallas Mavericks beat Boston
again, and dropped BCSUPERFAN22DFGP and Jonathan Brainin (34-48) off the list.

Mar 26, 2007: A record day for the predictions
list. With the Celtics 21st win of the season,
over the Toronto Raptors, the very first person
to drop off the list for wins instead of losses
is Celtics_History_Lesson (20-62), in what may be
the latest day in predictions list history this has happened.

Mar 30, 2007: The month closes out with a loss to
the Philadelphia 76ers which mathematically
eliminates Boston from Playoff contention. Also
eliminated from contention were Shira Springer,
Marc Stein, and mustyceltic (33-49).

Ten more games. Eight contenders left. Will anyone win?
