my take on allan ray is doc is trying to figure out if
he can be the third point guard so we can dangle
telfair without guilt in a trade.
personally, i think the kid looks like he belongs in
the nba. he's one of the few kids who's not afraid to
shoot and go to the basket. he's a scoring tweener who
can give you scoring off the bench and pg minutes in a
pinch. he reminds me a little of vinny johnson.
albeit, without the results yet.
i've watched most of the games this year, so have a
decent read on most of the players. as for giving
gerald minutes, he simply hasn't earned more than he's
got so far. he's wildly inconsistent on both ends of
the court. until he becomes more consistent, he
deserves the minutes he's getting. i hope the light
comes on next season.
looking forward to the rest of the games and what
happens in the off season. we're not that far away
from being a solid playoff team and contender. 2-3
years and we're deep in the playoffs with rondo, al,
delonte, gomes, perk and pierce leading the way.

Does anyone on this list understand the sudden mania
to
"develop" Allan Ray? I thought he was the 15th man on
this team, a pre-season pickup who (just) managed to
stick.
Now he's being given minutes at point guard (dear God,
what this says about Telfair) and being given minutes
in general: in the last two games, he's played more
than
Gerald Green. I ask you, which of these two guys has
more potential? I mean, it's not like Gerald couldn't
use
a peck of developing.
Here are Ray's results:
Mar 19: 22 minutes, 4-15, 1 assist, 12 points
Mar 17: 21 minutes, 0-3, 2 assists, 0 points
Mar 16: 22 minutes, 3-7, 2 assists, 8 points
OK, I agree this is a man who shows a desperate lack
of
development. But is there enough development in the
world to cure him?
If we want to win games, I can't see why we'd play
Ray. And if we want to develop players (and to
develop
a rotation), I can't see why we'd play him over
Gerald.
So, the upshot is, I can't see it. Can someone
enlighten
me?
