Kim-

I've seen a fair amount of Hibbert here in DC. The other Mark accurately described the gangly Hibbert of 2 years ago, but this kid has improved a lot. He added bulk to his 7' 2" frame, has decent hands, can play with his back to the basket, block shots and defends well. Coach Thompson (the sequel) has done a good job of molding Georgetown into a solid squad that ought to do well in the tournament.

Hibbert is not going to lead the team in scoring, but he would be a great center to add to the mix.

FWIW, he's one of the few players I have seen, and while I was very
impressed with the way he thoroughly dominated the game I watched
(and it may seem easy to do with enough physical edge, the fact is
that you also have to have the mentality to do it when you can), my
overall impression was also that he was someone who was dominating in
college but would not be, at least at this point, in the pros. Caveat
- I don't consider myself a particularly good scout, starting with
the fact that, as we all know, I hate shopping. But the above
description isn't that far off from what I think I saw, if you take
the best play of both players. I will say that Hibbert, at least
doesn't run like a duck, and I wouldn't say he gangled around - he
was much more efficient than that. Which doesn't mean he can't
improve further in the pros. I still maintain big men in college
transitioning to pros are harder to judge than any other position
because of the simply vast difference in night in night out
competition - don't forget, Kendrick would likely be a FORCE in
college. With other issues out there such as the likelihood of still
dealing with a changing body after a recent major growth spurt and
the extra bulk/muscle most will have to put on to play in the pros
while still playing the game at a much faster speed.
