Out of that group, only Sampson was considered a franchise big man, and
he was delivering before injuries hit.
Being taken high in the draft isn't the same as being a franchise
player.

Sam Bowie, Michael Olowokandi, Benoit Benjamin, Ralph Sampson, Kwame
Brown, Andrew Bogut, were all viewed as "Franchise" big men when they
were taken
I am not saying Oden is in their league, but how many freshman have put
up the numbers Durant is putting up?
It is tough to pass up a big man that is an inside & outside threat.
Hopefully we will be in the position to worry about which one to take!

Durant could be scoring 50 a game, and I still take Oden. You don't pass
up franchise centers.

I'm boldly taking the Kevin Durant bandwagon banner and will wave it
proudly. The kid is special. He's leading the Big 12 in scoring,
rebounding and blocked shots as a freshman. You think Greg Oden gets
double teams? Check out the defenses people throw at Durant. He's 18
years old and he's going to be the College Player of the Year.
Deservedly so. You know the last freshman to do that? That would be
nobody. I'm actively taking any suggestions people have of someone this
young who has played this well. Lebron James? He might have managed
similar numbers in college. Maybe.
Mark, I would like you to watch every Texas game (maybe Rick Barnes will
send you the game films :-) ) and see if you feel the same way as you do
now.
When the season began, I absolutely believed Oden was the next No. 1
pick (and also believed the Celtics would have no shot at him). But I
kept an open mind, and I've been turned to the dark side. If Oden HAS to
be the first pick, then I hope the Celts get number two.
