Wow. Best ever. I knew Garnett had love around here, but I didn't think it
was that high.

Sam Cassel was one of the best clutch point guards of the last ten years
(he's lost a step now). There was a reason teams he's played on have
consistently made the playoffs, but I digress.

I never said Garnett was a crappy player. I did say he's is not one of the
franchise players in the league and I stand by that - he needs another
all-star beside him to succeed (sound like someone else we know). I don't
dispute that either. Let's go through a couple guys you mention below:

Lebron - what exactly surrounds LeBron in Cleveland? Not a whole helluva
lot, but he gets his team to the playoffs (later rounds too). So he's a
franchise player - can win without another all-star beside him.

Ray Allen - another second tier guy - needs (at least) another all-star to
help.

Steve Nash - makes guys WAY better players no matter who you put around him.
Proved last year he doesn't need Stoudamire to win. Franchise player.

All the rest you mention are also second tier guys. They need 2d all-star
help too. See your argument proves my point - how many centers did you name
on your list in the last paragraph below?

None.

So why would someone draft a potential franchise non-center with everything
else being equal seeing that most non-centers have proven they need yet
another all-star to get to the highest levels?

-------------
Garnett is in the mix with Tim Duncan, Kevin McHale, Karl Malone and I'm
sure some other guys I've forgotten, as best power forward ever. He took a
team with an aging Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell as its next best players
to the Western Conference final.

Yes, teammates matter. Put him on a team with fellow crappy players Steve
Nash, Lebron James, Ray Allen, Pau Gasol, Gilbert Arenas and Jermaine O'Neal
and they could all suddenly become quality, championship-winning players.
