Looking on the bright side...

So this trade has been universally panned... except
for that glowing report from SI calling our trade the
"steal of the draft." I appreciate reading something
positive, but it's almost comical on how the
sentiments expressed in that article were so totally
opposite anything else you could find.

My initial reaction was dissapointment. I wanted more.
When I told my dad, who is also a Celtic fan but much
more casual about it, that Ray Allen wasn't what we
needed and wouldn't help us that much he said, "A 26
point per game scorer isn't going to help you?"

OK. Good point. (From here on I'm assuming the ankle
surgury will not be a factor in next season). So let's
look at what happened. There's no use sitting around
bitching about things we can't control. Let's look at
our team. We should be better than last year. Adding
Ray Allen will certainly help. We shouldn't be upset
about adding Ray Allen without giving up that much. We
still have Al Jeff. We still have Rondo. Of course we
still have Paul.
I think what dissapoints us so much is that we were
getting used to hearing names like Garnett, Kirelenko
(sp?), Gasol, J. O'neil, etc. coming our way, much
bigger players that address our more pressing needs.
If I hadn't heared all these trade rumors for bigger
names, I think I'd be happier with this trade because,
after all, we just added Ray Allen without giving up
too much. It's just that we were expecting bigger.

Now, as many others have said, I really hope we pull a
deal for AK-47 (there, I got around the spelling
issue). If we could do it as some suggest for GGreen,
Theo and a future pick, then I'd be thrilled. We got
much better without giving up any of our core players
(sorry to you DWest fans out there).

Were we hoping for bigger and better? Yes. While what
happened didn't live up to our expectations, we will
be a better basektball team because of it. So I'm
trying to stay positive. I will still be a Celtic fan
no matter what, so why just torture myslef with doom
and gloom projections. I'll be a much happier fan if I
focus on the silver lining.

And hope for that AK trade.
