Come in off the ledge folks...this, as long as the braintrust has done due
diligence and is satisfied that his ankles will hold up, ain't that bad. No
we didn't get an additional big in the first round, but we did grab a big
boy with #35, even though he's not a C. In Ray Allen, we have just improved
our shooting percentage. Allen does not take bad shots, but rather those
which he can knock down. And for those of us (especially me) who have
bemoaned our ineptitude from the free throw line, particularly late in the
game...Allen is among the best free throw shooters on the planet.
Cecil (his injury is detailed below)
2003-04:
Scored a season-high 42 points vs. Portland on 1/5…Handed out a season-high
11 assists at Minnesota on 3/31…Pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds vs.
Philadelphia on 2/19…Scored in double-figures in 54 games…Scored 20-plus
points 39 times…Scored 30-plus points eight times…Scored 40-plus points
three times…Led the team in scoring 32 times…Led or co-led the team in
rebounding eight times…Led or co-led the team in assists 11 times…Registered
six double-doubles…Missed 26 games due to injury…Missed the first 25 games
of the season due to right ankle surgery…Had successful right ankle surgery
on 11/1…Activated on 12/23…Missed one game (3/7) due to the flu…Recorded his
third career triple-double at L.A. Lakers on 1/28 (18 points, 10 rebounds
and 10 assists)…Averaged a career-high 23.0 ppg and would have ranked tied
for sixth in NBA in scoring had he qualified...Named as a reserve on 2/3 to
the Western Conference team at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
