What Will Be GM Paul Pierce's Next Move?

I agree that counter to conventional wisdom, Kirilenko (Green, Ratliff,
future #1) would be a much better deal than teh KG deal (Jefferson, Green
Ratliff, picks). An AK deal would put us close to the Lux tax, but KG
would put us over for several years AND strip us of any other talent.

The worst part of this deal so far has been how far (and/or further) into
depression its sent some of our best & brightest fans. I'll join them if
we mortgage everything for KG -- but this deal I see more like taking out
a small home improvement loan than a full-on mortgage against the future.

I think the biggest misconception --- floated this AM too by Bill Simmons
--- is that Allen is close to done and that all SGs break down at 32.

Someone (i think on CSL) made the point that Allen reminds them of Reggie
Miller in terms of conditioning and how he takes care of his body. Just
going off the top of my head (and checked via basketball-reference.com), 
Jeff Hornaceck, Latrell Spreewell, Clyde Drexler, and Eddie Jones were
playing at about their career average into age 35-36.

it's not the norm but guys have done it and Ray Allen is as good a bet to
as anyone.

A Kirilenko move would would be perfect and would salvage this Ray Allen
debacle. A Jefferson-for-KG move is more likely and will only compound
the problem.

But you're dead right about this Pierce crap. You'd think he was Bill
Freaking Russell.

I hope Paul is a gambler at heart and does the
Jefferson/Green/Ratliff/Telfair/Boston 1/Mn 1 deal for

KG. If the Celtics can't win the East with Garnett,
Pierce, and Allen, then it's time to give up.

A lesser deal, but one that makes a lot of sense
considering the specific dynamics of the club now,
is Green, Telfair, and a future first for Kirilenko.
The Celtics desperately need a Kirilenko type player.

Whatever happens, I'm sure Paul and his girlfriend
will strategerize the Celtics in to Title contention
soon.
