Chances are that over the next 5 years KG still outperforms Jefferson by a
decent margin.

That's an excellent point, Sean. I have to say something on this issue, as this
has veered in the realm of fantasy.

Not too long ago, a substantial portion of this list was in favor of getting
Iverson, who doesn't fit with this (or probably, any) team at all. Conversely,
Garnett would have been an outstanding fit, in addition to being a future
Hall-of-Famer. He's exactly what the Celtics need - an outstanding defensive
big with scary rebounding ability, a formidable offensive option who doesn't
need to dominate the ball, an excellent passer with high bball IQ, and a true
veteran leader and loyal teammate.
I'm not saying the Celtics should've given up anything to get KG, but to see
statements like "I wouldn't trade Al for Tim Duncan!" is comical. We're ready
to annoint Big Al the best near-future player in the NBA? Based on a half-
season of decent scoring and rebounding in near vaccum? Really???

Al may turn out to be an All-Star after all, and a rock for this or some other
team. But the chances of this kid - who remember, has had significant
motivation, weight, conditioning and injury issues - of ever being better than
Garnett, let alone Duncan, are almost nil. Yes, Al put up good scoring and
rebounding numbers in a zero-pressure situation. But what about defense,
passing, leadership, character, basketball IQ? Or even his being 6-9 instead of
6-11 or 7 feet? Don't these things matter at all in fielding a winning team?
Does Al compare favorably (did/will he ever?) with KG and Duncan, or even
Dwight Howard on any of these? I mean, come on, I love Big Al's low-post
skills and would prefer to keep him, but what has he shown so far to indicate
he will become anything more than a Zach Randolph without the baggage?
