Do you want KG?

I think -- though i couldn't list who's on what side -- it's pretty clear
the division over including Jefferson in a deal for KG. I'm curious for
those (i include myself) who see Jefferson as a deal breaker in a KG trade
how much of that is KG and how much is Big Al.
Would you be in favor of a deal that brought in KG, kept Al, but plunged
us into Salary Cap hell for the next 3-5 years? I would emphatically be --
i'm curious if others are or if the concerns voiced about KG (we'd only
have him for 1 year, he'll break down, etc.) are legit concerns in
people's minds:
KG
Hudson
Jaric
for
#5
2008 #1 pick
Gerald Green
Wally
West or Allen
MIN's pick reverted back to them
WHY BOS --- We get to keep Jefferson but give up most of our other
"assets" (ratliff, green , #5). We also take on 2 of MIN's 4 really bad
contracts (though I think Hudson would be a good -- if overpriced --
backup PG). Assuming a max extension for Jefferson and not being able to
dump one of Jaric or Hudson, we'd be between $4-9 MIl over the Lux Tax...
but woudl have KG, Pierce, Jefferson, Rondo, Perk, Allen at least that's a
team you could argue is worth going over the lux tax limit.
WHY MIN --- (1) As has been pointed out Szczerbiak is a fan fave which
might soften to blow to fans. (2) THey could draft Brewer + Noah (which is
what i'd consider if i was McHale), 2 winners/glue guys to go along with
the explosive combo of Foye/McCants/Green (3) They'd have $18 mil in
expiring contract next summer - not enough to get under the cap, but
enough to potentially add a player from a team looking to get under the
cap. (4) The FOLLOWING summer if they didn't make a deadline deal with
Theo + Ricky's contracts, they could be as much as $18 MIL under the cap.
MIN will never get equal value for a guy like KG (no team ever does) -- so
IMO the best thing would be for them not to go the way of PHI (Barkley,
then again with AI), or LA (Shaq) but rather use KG to clean up their
horrible cap situation, build a youthful core and develop from within.
