I get the feeling that the R Lewis sign and trade (for Ratliff + a player not named Green) is basically a done deal...It just makes too much sense for both teams... With Durant on the way, Lewis doesn't fit in Seattle and he reportedly wants to play in Boston. The C's get the elusive "veteran all-star" to team up with Pierce and give up very little...Seattle gets to dump salary and adds a player (Allen? West? Telfailure?) in return.
The other day Ainge said "we haven't traded the #5 pick YET"... This makes me
think that something is going to happen. Although I think it wont be Garnett...
Wally plus the pick for Kirilenko and Utah's pick (#25) would make a lot of sense of both teams. Brewer would fit perfectly in Utah, playing the defensive small forward role that Kirilenko struggled with. Kirilenko playing PF would compliment well with BiGal playing Center. Kirilenko would bring the C's some tough interior defense that has been lacking since the days of the "big 3".
This would give the C's the following starting 5:
C - BiGal
PF - Kirilenko
SF - R Lewis
SG - Pierce
PG - Rondo
Key Bench Players:
C/PF - Perkins
PF - Scalabrine
SF - Green
SG - West or Allen
Of course these moves will probably never happen, but they would make the C's a serious play-off team next year. BUT the Celtics will never be a true contender until they get a player of the caliber of Shaq, Duncan or James...
