Chad Ford Rumor: Jefferson et al for Garnett

I think you're right Josh... i think it's easy to forget just how
good/consistent KG has been since he's been toiling away on a mediocre
team.
I don't think anyone here wants Kobe (i know i don't) but there is a legit
questions about the current Big Al (19/11/1) for 10 more years vs. KG for,
say, 4-5. That's about as close to even as you can get IMO. It's not
inconcieveable that with a lineup of Rondo/Pierce/Gomes/KG/Perkins with a
bench of West and Allen would be contenders in the East for the next 2-3
years. But i also think the same could be said for a
Rondo/Wally/Pierce/Jefferson/Perk with Gomes, West, Allen, Green and Al
Horford (or whoever we get with the #5) lineup but probably for the next
5-6 years.
Sean Grande made a great point last night on CSL radio... it should be
mentioned/appreciated that its a big diff. that we can legitimately
discuss the myriad of rumored trades (KG, Marion, Boozer, Iverson, Chris
Paul) BECAUSE of what Ainge has done adding talent to this team... he
contrasted that to when Shaq was on the market. He pointed out that Shaq
wouldn't have come here, but that we coudln't even make an offer. Now we
can -- and if we don't the future's pretty good w/ JEfferson (that last
bit's mine).
I think all of this is moot b/c I don't think KG is going anywhere....
he's been asking for more frontcourt help and is a friend of Juwan Howard
from working out in Chicago. If they add a Mike Conley or Brandon Wright
and can dump Mark Blount, i think they'll have a nice team next year.
KG is a lot like Pierce in this respect -- i think they both REALLY want
to stay with MIN & BOS respectively. They value the history they both fit
into (KG *as* the history; Pierce as a lifelong Celtic). If I'm McHale i'd
mortgage everything to make one more run w/ Garnett.

KG just averaged stats near his career best, 22+ points and almost 13
rebounds a gameto along with almost two blocked shots. He's a hall of fame
type player. You get thoseguys when you get the chance....the deal may
need some tweaking, and it would be niceto keep something back, but I'm
really surprised at how down on this deal everybody is.I'd rather have KG
than Kobe any day.
