Ray (or anybody else) - why would the Celtics not want
to add Horford, if he is there at #5? The team needs
size (which is one reason I'd be inclined to take
Rashard Lewis over Joe Johnson - and why I'm still
noodling on the Shawn Marion idea because even at 6'7
he's a better rebounder and shot-blocker than Lewis).
I haven't seen Thornton play but he's listed at 6'7 --
in other words, another dreaded Tweener.
Let's say the Celtics add Lewis and Horford to their
frontcourt. Your starting lineup would look like this:
Rondo
Pierce
Lewis
Jefferson
Perkins
bench: Horford, Gomes (?), Green, Allen, Szerbiak
Pick up a decent FA point guard (or trade for one -
Atlanta has several to choose from) who could spell
Rondo and lend a veteran presence, and that seems like
a solid playoff team. Especially if Allen and/or Wally
come back healthy.
