Celtics Could Have Joe Johnson, But They Rather Have The 5th Pick And Rashard Lewis

I don't disagree with any of that. If we don't take Noah, I'm OK with
Yi. At least he actually gives us some size. I agree also on Brewer and
Thornton. I'm not down on either guy as prospects. I just don't think
they fill a need for the Celtics at all.

If the C's get Rashard Lewis, I think the best move is to trade Pierce
for frontcourt help, but they won't do that.

Mark,
I can't believe Atlanta would trade JJ for anything
less than Jefferson, but stranger things have
happened draft day. It depends, I suppose,
how badly they want Conley.

The Lewis rumor is more than a message board
concoction - Egg, Bulpett, and Shira have all
mentioned him.

As far as size goes, that's why Ainge wants to take
Yi at 5, and trade for Lewis. Might not be the
best defensive frontcourt around, but great size and
scoring with Jefferson, Yi, and Lewis.

I'd rather see Garnett, O'Neal, or Gasol than Lewis,
but you might be able to acquire him without giving up
the 5th pick, so they can select Yi too.

Though, the rumors are rampant that the Hawks are
drafting Yi at 3.

The high salary for Lewis, yeah, but that's the
penalty you pay for doing a sign and trade.

Also, I think the Lewis deal would be Theo, Delonte,
Boston unprotected first, and the Minnesota pick
perhaps.

Noah is a good energy/chemistry guy, a complimentary
player - Yi, has a chance to be a Bargnaini-Gasol
hybrid type. Thornton can be a high scoring, good
rebounding SG/SF. Won't surprise, if he's not a 20
point scorer by his third year or sooner. Brewer
should be Prince at least.
