I don't doubt PHO offered that, but I'd pass.  Marion is a gifted player,
but he's only 7 months younger than Pierce... and 3 years older than
Kirilenko.

#5 is a good pick -- despite not being what we hoped for -- if we can get
a young veteran (Gasol, Kirilenko) that's one thing but Marion and even
Garnett are a bit long-in-the tooth given where *THIS* team is at.

If this is true, sign me up immediately. For all the
talk about Kirilenko, I would much rather add Marion
to our current core of Pierce/Al/etc. He makes us
better on both ends of the floor. If Wally comes back
healthy, Marion could slide to the four, Al to the 5.
I'd much rather have the Matrix than just about
anybody who's likely to be there at #5, and if West
and Gomes are the price of getting the deal done, I
could live with that.

Frankly I can't imagine that Phoenix makes this deal.
Their time is now. Unless they are planning to flip
the pick for somebody else, or unless they're damn
sure they can get Horford there. I just don't see
Brewer, Gomes and West as enough of an offset.
