That's a great quote. When did McHale say Antoine couldn't hold Bird's jockstrap?

I remember something about Birds jockstrap a few years ago... :)

Here's hoping for Kevin Garnett or some impact player. Maybe McHale will throw his former team a bone, we can return the favour later if McHale is still the GM in Minnesota.

However, according to ESPN.com (see link below), the Celtics are saying there's "no rush". I agree there's no rush to rebuild this team but it sure would be nice to win consistently in the playoffs again, it's been a long time between drinks (over 15 years!).

Regarding the ECF team in 2001-02, I don't believe the team peaked as mentioned in other posts; I believe it was mis-managed. First with "Thanks Dad" Gaston refusing to pay luxury tax and costing us valuable role players Erick Strickland (very underrated) AND Rodney Rogers. Then with the stinking Chris Wallace trading for a alcoholic (Vin Baker (now sober)- last cut by McHale in Minnesota at the start of 2006 and has now opened "Vinnie's Fish House" in his hometown Old Saybrook, Connecticut), this was after trading away now-superstar Joe Johnson (for Rodney Rogers et al however).

Anyway, I'm sure next year will be a big improvement from the previous 2 seasons and hopefully Pierce is an injury-free Celtic for life (along with Kevin Garnett).

Speaking of the Griz and the Celtics, Chris Wallace
apparently is applying for Jerry West's old job. I'm
reminded of that famous McHale quote about how Antoine
Walker couldn't carry Bird's jockstrap. Nevertheless,
maybe we should keep our fingers crossed for Chris, if
only to rid the team of a lingering stench.
