What is the window? (was: ESPN)

I've seen this many places when discussing the recent trades: (a) that we
have a 3 year window and (b) that it will be followed by another 20-year
drought. Here's why i think both of those assumptions are wrong:

3 year window ---- I think we have a 3 year window where KG, Ray Allen and
PP are all still performing at near-All-NBA levels (all 3 have made it so
that's not hyperbole), that puts us in contention for a title. I then
think that we have another 3 year window where each will perform at a 75%
or so level (think Cassell on the MIN team, McHale on the early 90s C's
teams). The key before that 2nd 3 year window is adding another player(s)
that can become the next great Celtics team. Which leads me to...

20 year drought v2.0 ---- Ainge drafted the guys he traded for KG at 15
(Jefferson), 18 (Green), 50 (Gomes) plus the #7 (Telfair). I'm not making
light of losing a future star like Jefferson (who BTW i do think will be
better than Dwight Howard), but with 2 #1 picks and 3 #2 picks in the next
3 years it's not like Ainge won't have a chance to build a new team as we
go along with this one.

The assumption that we have 3 years before we're back to the ML Carr days
assumes -- incorrectly -- that we do nothing before then (hard to see
Ainge doing nothing) and that we have guys like Gaston, Carr and Pitino
running the show... we don't.

I am so going to enjoy watching winning now! My only concern is
whether we will win it all. I think that is imperative because only
the euphoria of an NBA championship will tide us over for the next
20-year drought that may begin in 3 years.
