Got R Done

We need a point guard -- and not just a backup for Rondo. Rondo is the
wrong guy for this team. This is going to be a walk-it-up, half-court
offensive team. Three guys are going to demand double teams at various
times, and Rondo's guy will be the guy doing the double teaming. We need
a point guard who can manage the game and hit open shots. I don't see
anyone on the free agent market who fits. I'd try to pry Chris Duhon
away from Chicago. I think he'd work nicely.

We also need at least one legitimate NBA frontcourt player. Marc Jackson
could work. Not Dwayne Jones.

These three guys are great, but you can't win with a three-man team.
That's basically what we have. There is work to be done. Of course, the
hard part is getting the three top guys.

I wouldn't have done this trade, but that's spilled milk. If you're
going to do it, you have to really go for it. And that means we need
more help.

Mark

Only time will tell whether this is a Hershel Walker type deal, but
Garnett still has some years left. The challenge now is to complete the
roster.

Dwayne Jones is an FA can he help inside for 5-10 minutes a game real
cheap? Marc Jackson might also.

Garnett should help with the development of Powe & Davis, making the
loss ol Al a bit easier to take.

We need come bench perimeter help, can anyone think of anyone out there
that can help us in this area? Jannero Parfgo signed soemeahre correct?

How about Jay Willams or Dejuan Wagner? Do they have anything? Where is
Spree now?
Dee Brown might be worth a workout

Is Robert Horry a free agent!

Say hello to the new Big Three (Three Squared? The Nines? I don't think
we can just call it the Big Three who will always be Bird, McHale and
Parish to me - we need a new nickname).

As many have said correctly, now we have to complete this shift in plan
and fill out the roster with a minimum of two signings. A PG defender
and a backup PF/C defender with an outside shot at another perimeter
SG/SF defender like Posey if there's any way to swing such things. The
reason this is so important is simple - 32 year old guys should not be
playing 48 minutes a game. They shouldn't even really be playing 45
minutes per game and with three all-star players that shouldn't be as
much of an issue, but you still don't want to trot out three 2nd round
rookies or undrafted free agents off the bench either.

Say what you want as well, but as constituted now Scal has a role on
this team to do what he's made to do - make hustle plays, get the ball
to the all-stars, and give you 10 minutes of pure energy. When he's not
counted on to be a focal player he's fine (see "NJ years: the red head
edition").

Another curious aside - has Garnett ever had a post teacher like
Clifford Ray? Garnett has always been more of a turnaround jumper type
in the post - can the old dog learn new post tricks this late in his
career? If anyone can teach him - it's Ray. If Garnett added more drop
steps and baby hooks - wow.

I stick by my offense suggestions from yesterday. Allen running the
baseline/elbows - the Reggie Miller Memorial Offense (tm), Pierce on the
wing, with Garnett mostly low post, but at some high post as well. On
defense, I hope the 8 time all defensive team Garnett can help us solve
our four year inability to play the pick and roll. With poor defender
Allen on the wing I'd also advocate a nice helping of NBA zone too. This
may also help Perk a bit with the foul troubles, although having Garnett
SHOULD allow the coaches to tell him he doesn't have to try and block
every shot (which he did get better at last year which cut down on his
quick whistles - that and they didn't have him blitz as much either).

Wow. I still can't believe we actually made the deal. I was way wrong. I
never in a million years thought we had the juice to make it happen
after the draft day deal.
