That's why i like Lue -- he's a stopgap player (though i'd not heard Doc's
praise of him). Parker's still 25 and trying to "stick". He wont' take
being a backup as well as Lue will IMO.
More than shooting or size, as a backup PG I want (a) someone who's a
solid if unspectacular distributor and doesn't TO the ball... someone who
can bring some stablity to a young 2nd unit; (b) someone who will push
Rondo for the starting job but who won't balk if he doesn't win it; and to
a lesser degree (c) someone who can teach Rondo some things about being an
NBA PG -- an elderstatesman like Lue could do that... I doubt a guy like
Parker can.
IMO it's not always about who's the BEST player -- Parker might be a
better player than Lue -- but who's the best FIT for THIS team. This is
why i wanted a guy like Mikki Moore 2 summers back -- someone who's a
professional but hungry. I think its this so-called "not the answer"
signings/trades that end up making the real difference most of the time.
Like TOR's signing Garbajosa and Parker last year.
The Navarro kid sounds like he would be a nice addition too.

Tyronn Lue isn't the answer and if he comes here Doc
is going to play him WAY too much (Doc calls him one
of his favorite players). We need a veteran presence,
but it would be nice if that presence actually added
something we don't have--namely size in the backcourt.
Lue can shoot threes, but that's about it. He's a
pretty poor shooter over the length of his
career--43%. He's good at keeping his turnovers down,
but his defense is average at best and not getting any
better. He's injury-prone and has never played a
complete season in his career. He's a stopgap player,
nothing more. We'd be better off without him.
I think Smush Parker would be a better option myself,
since apparently Brevin Knight is not being considered
by the C's (per Mike Gorman on CSL). Dee Brown is a
nice player, but we need someone with a little more
experience.
