Back-up Yi followers, thou art heading for peril

SNIP The point is moot to a certain degree b/c there's no doubt that Rondo
has passed him on the depth chart -- forever. And I think most of us are
glad for Rondo -- think he'll be real good. But I also wouldn't have as big
a problem as Telfair being our backup as I would, say, if we don't add
another big. - The (other) Mark END SNIP

I don't think Telfair's a bad backup either. I really don't. What I do
disagree with overall is that 1. somehow he wasn't the most responsible for
his own demotion (yes, Doc's a terrible coach too, but most of the blame
falls squarely on Telfair's terrible play for two straight franchises I
might add - period) 2. we paid an exorbitant price for a backup PG which
exacerbates the problem and 3. that the media spin continues to churn out
pabulum versus admitting a mistake (by all parties).

Wouldn't the most refreshing thing in the world be for Ainge to say: it's
not a trade I would make again? Or for Wyc to say: it was a purely money
saving decision? Or for Doc to say (and he's by far the most likely to
actually do this) I used Telfair poorly? Or last but not least for Telfair
to admit it was his gun (not his wife's, his cousin's, his cockatoo's,
whatever) and he'll face whatever music he needs to for the misdemeanor (not
even getting into his playing ability).

Leadership, accountability, integrity, hard work, sacrifice - these are the
elements that make a great team - in any facet of life: home, office, sport
or leisure. How many of those do our Celtics have? The honest answer to that
- at ALL levels - ownership, management, and player - should be all anyone
needs to make an assessment of our present and future.

SNIP Anyone think that Ainge should or will make an offer for Yi? It's
sounding increasingly like this will be a stalemate of Steve
Francis/Vancouver proportions.

Some combination of Green, Gomes, Telfair, Scal and next year's #1 (and POR
2nd round pick) could maybe get YI + Gadzuric (who has a pretty hefty
contract, but if we could then move Scal it might be OK). - The (other) Mark

After seeing him in the summer league...I hope not. Soft, perimeter,
defensively challenged: these are all terms we should be actively avoiding
as further additions to this team. I agree with RMN - does anyone think he
projects to give you more then Gomes? After his performance in Vegas I'm
pretty skeptical. Now I've always liked Gadzuric just because he's a Celtic
killer - but that more indicts our big men then pumps up his value.

And lastly, no, I'm not the official headline writer for the AF. Appreciate
the thought. I do write the majority of the performance reports that leave
the base though for promotion consideration - maybe that counts for
something although veiled pop culture references and puns usually don't
impress promotion boards all that much.
