Thanks to everyone's responses re: Telfair. I agree Egg it will be a
major shock/turnaround for Telfair to "get it", but i'm hoping against
hope (as i always do this time of year).
And i'm dubious of the "the rumors of Ratliff's demise being exaggerated"
like we're being led to believe --- however....
he did play 55 and 60 games in POR the 2 years before comign here (about
70% of the gamse) and if we're supposed to believe that Pierce et al.,
were being held out, i.e. tanking, then why not Ratliff too?
If healthy, he's EXACTLY what we need --- a defensive backup who can play
15-20 mins (with Perk playing 24-28).
And if it turns out he's healthy and can contribute his value goes up even
more at the deadline to a team looking for the final piece to a title run
(i.e. teams like Cleveland, MIA, SA, etc. would likely give a player +
pick for a healthy Ratliff.

There sure were. Telfair simply never "got it" either on defense or on
offense.
His defense was horrible and his offense inconsistent at best.
He never understood when he should shoot (.371 FG%), settled
for too many jump shots and 3-pointers (.289 3P%), had too few
drives, and far too few assists (2.8 pg). Add that to his lack of "D"
and Milt Palaccio might have been an upgrade.
The most irritating thing for his coaches both in Portland and
here was that no matter how many times they instructed or
reprimanded Telfair, his habits never changed.
By staging photo ops of him sitting next to our BT in Las
Vegas and planting positive stories through the ever-obliging
local media, we are being drawn a picture of the new and
improved Sebastian Telfair. A changed man? I simply don't
buy it any more than I buy that Theo is about to have his
first healthy and productive season in six years.
