WALTHAM, Mass. -- Newly acquired _Boston Celtics_
(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=bos) guard _Ray Allen_
(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3080) said Monday his surgically repaired ankles are
"perfect," and he's looking forward to being a veteran presence.
Allen, a seven-time All-Star acquired from Seattle last Thursday in a
multiplayer trade, met with reporters at the team's training facility, as did
second-round draft choices Gabe Pruitt and Glen "Big Baby" Davis.
Allen, who played at Connecticut, said part of his job will be to make things
easier for _Paul Pierce_
(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3253) on the court. The Celtics expect him to be ready for training camp.
He had surgery April 7 to remove bone spurs on both ankles.
The Celtics obtained Allen and the 35th pick from Seattle for guards _Delonte
West_ (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3841) and
_Wally Szczerbiak_ (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3329)
and forward Jeff Green of Georgetown, who the Celtics had drafted with the fifth
pick on Thursday night.
Pruitt and Davis will play for the Celtics in the summer developmental league
in Las Vegas. The team leaves Tuesday.
"I'm so excited, I can't even express it," said Davis, a star at Louisiana
State selected with the 35th pick. "I can be humble right now, but I'm ready to
go and get on that flight."
Davis, a 290-pound forward, led the Southeastern Conference in rebounding
last season, and averaged 17.9 points.
The Celtics used their own second-round pick, the 32nd, to take Pruitt, a
Southern California guard who averaged 13.8 points in three college seasons.
