Gret trade?

That is the big question with the trade. Will Allen's ankles continue to be a problem and will he lose his legs about this time like many other shooting guards have. He definitely gives us a proven perimeter player, now we need just one more on the interior, and to improve our D

We know who fits this need.

God help us, but Egg is right

pacify and excite the naive fans. Hey -
“We got a 7 time all-star for practically nothing.”

A 32 yr. old SG with a chronic sore knee, recent surgery (again)
on both ankles, and who doesn't defend was not who we needed
to spend $52 mill on for the next three years.

Our needs are much greater than what Allen can supply.

We have only ONE CENTER in Perkins (unless you believe the latest
Celt spin/BS that Theo may actually have something left. I assume
that means we will be keeping him.

We have only ONE PF in Jefferson unless you count undersized Scal,
Gomes, Powe, and the slow, flat-footed Big Baby, who is listed at
6-8, 285 pounds but smartly avoided being weighed and measured
at the pre-draft camp lest he be recorded at 6-7, 320 pounds.

We have only ONE PG in Rondo unless you believe the latest spin/BS
that our BT has forgiven Telfair and suddenly feels he can still make
it big here. Certainly tweener Pruitt is hardly the answer as an
immediate backup PG.

A starting offensive lineup of Jefferson, Pierce, Perkins, Rondo,
and Allen has to be the worst defensive starting unit in the league.
And a bench of Scal, Gomes, Telfair, Green, and maybe Tony Allen
and maybe Ratliff has to be among the weakest in the league.

I always felt that actually putting himself on the line by drafting a
high pick (#7 in 2006, #5 in 2007) would be threatening to Ainge.
His comfort zone has always been in plucking off low first-round
and second-round bargains. If he could pick a player at #24 who
should have gone at #18, or a #35 who should have gone at #27,
well that’s what his multimillion dollar scouting ego has been all
about. It's pitiful that when he finally attempted to cash in on
his dozen young bargains/trading chips the only chip (aside from
the #5) who caught other team's interest was Jefferson.

Despite his constant mention of defense being our biggest need,
Danny has yet to follow through on that promise. Instead, he'd
prefer to have the luxury of picking three athletic, offensively gifted
bargains in the second round of each draft... and after several
years, pray that that a couple of them would actually become
valuable players. That's his game, and it has proved to be a very
costly, chintzy, and dangerous game at that.

In his five-year tenure, so many teams like Chicago, Portland,
Charlotte, Toronto, Atlanta, Milw, LAC, GS, etc. etc. etc. have
passed us by with youth, talent, victories, and future promise.
And it's not like again this year that no other ED teams improved
themselves in this draft with more efficiency and at much
less cost.

But God bless all the patient, victimized, and addicted Celt
loyalists. With the addition of Ray Allen, I'm already hearing
what our BT hoped to hear -
"We’ll now be impossible to defend against."
"We’ll now be ED contenders."
